Cryogenic Test Chamber: Guardian of Quality at Extreme Low Temperatures

As a kind of professional equipment that can simulate extreme low temperature environment, the cryogenic test chamber plays a vital role in many fields, like a loyal quality guardian.

Ⅰ、The working principle of cryogenic test chamber

The core of the cryogenic test chamber is its powerful and sophisticated refrigeration system, usually using a cascade refrigeration cycle.

1. The composition of cascade refrigeration

The cryogenic test chamber is composed of two parts: high temperature grade and low temperature grade. High temperature grade generally uses medium temperature refrigerants, such as R404A. Its main responsibility is to take the heat away from the low-temperature condenser in time, so as to maintain the stable operation of the low-temperature stage within the appropriate operating temperature range.

The low temperature stage uses low temperature refrigerants, such as liquid nitrogen, to achieve amazingly low temperatures.

2. Work process analysis

Under the action of a powerful compressor, the high-temperature refrigerant is compressed into a high-temperature and high-pressure gas, and then enters the condenser for heat dissipation and is converted into a high-pressure liquid. Then, through the throttling device (such as expansion valve), the pressure is reduced into a low-temperature low-pressure gas-liquid mixture, which enters the evaporator to absorb the heat of the low-temperature condenser, so that the temperature of the low-temperature condenser continues to decrease.

The low-temperature refrigerant is also compressed into high temperature and high pressure gas under the push of the low-temperature compressor, and then enters the condenser (at this time, the condenser is actually the internal space of the cryogenic test chamber, that is, the key area that needs to be cooled). Here, the low-temperature refrigerant releases heat to the high-temperature refrigerant, transforming itself into a high-pressure liquid. After the throttle device depresses, it evaporates and absorbs heat in the evaporator, prompting the temperature inside the test chamber to drop at an alarming rate.

In addition, in order to effectively maintain a very low temperature, the box of the cryogenic test chamber adopts a high-quality insulation structure. Usually use multi-layer insulation materials, such as polyurethane foam, glass fiber and so on. These materials have extremely low thermal conductivity and are excellent at preventing external heat from entering the chamber. The door and interface of the box are also made of high-performance sealing materials to ensure a good seal and prevent cold air leakage. Reasonable structural design further reduces heat conduction and radiation.

Ⅱ、The application of cryogenic test chamber

1. Electronics industry

In the electronics industry, cryogenic test chambers are widely used for reliability testing of electronic products. For example, low temperature testing of integrated circuits, semiconductor devices, electronic components, etc. Through the cryogenic test, the performance and reliability of these electronic products can be accurately checked in extremely low temperature environments, and potential problems can be detected in time. For example, in the development process of some high-end chips, the cryogenic test chamber can simulate the working state of the chip under extremely cold conditions to ensure that it can operate stably in a variety of harsh environments.

2. Aerospace

The requirements for quality and reliability of aerospace products are extreme, and cryogenic test chambers play an integral role in this field. Cryogenic testing of aircraft engine components, spacecraft materials, electronic equipment, etc., can simulate the extreme low temperature conditions in the space environment. For example, cryogenic testing of key components on satellites can ensure that these components work normally in the extremely cold environment of space, providing a solid guarantee for the success of space missions.

3. The automotive industry

Automotive components must have excellent performance and reliability under different environmental conditions. Cryogenic test chamber can be used for low temperature test of automobile engine, transmission, sensor and other parts. Through the test, you can check the performance of these parts in cold climates, laying the foundation for the quality improvement of automotive products. For example, in severe winter areas, the starting system and electronic equipment of the car need to withstand the test of extremely low temperatures, and the cryogenic test chamber can simulate these extreme environments and help the car manufacturer improve the product design.

4. Materials science research

Cryogenic test chamber provides an important experimental means for material science research. Through low temperature treatment and testing of various materials, it is possible to deeply study the physical, chemical and mechanical properties changes of materials at extreme low temperatures. For example, cryogenic tests on new alloy materials can observe changes in their strength, toughness and corrosion resistance at low temperatures, providing valuable data support for the development and application of new materials.

Ⅲ、The parameters of the cryogenic test chamber

1.Temperature range: The temperature range of the LIB cryogenic test chamber is usually between -120 ° C and +150 ° C, which can be set according to different test requirements.

2. Temperature uniformity: refers to the temperature difference in different positions in the box, which is generally required to be within ±2 ° C to ensure the accuracy of the test results.

3. Rising and cooling rate: standard cryogenic test chamber heating rate is 3℃/ min, cooling rate is 1℃/ min, rising and cooling rate can also be customized.

In summary, the cryogenic test chamber has become a quality guardian at extreme low temperatures with its accurate temperature control, rapid cooling, good thermal insulation performance and high reliability. In many fields such as electronics, aerospace, automotive, material science and so on, cryogenic test chambers provide a powerful driving force for the improvement of product quality and scientific and technological innovation. With the continuous progress of science and technology, the cryogenic test chamber will continue to develop in the direction of intelligence, energy saving and environmental protection, multi-function, miniaturization and portability, bringing more opportunities and challenges to the development of various industries.
